M.E. diary

ME and my muscles

I dont know yet if this is specific to me but i recorded in previous diary entries that peeling a potato with a peeler made me feel ill, having a bath and drying my hair made me feel ill, carrying the hoover upstairs made me feel ill, hanging out washing makes me feel ill. There is something in the action of using my muscles for jobs that need strength that makes me feel ill.

I talked to Michelle about this yesterday (my feeling that she wasnt going to be there was correct but we made an arrangement for later in the day so all was well) and she said that muscles have two actions – i cant remember the medical name for these actions but basically they are gentle side to side actions and actions against gravity (i think). Its the actions against gravity that cause the problems  (Pilates would be impossible) especially walking up stairs because you are using the largest muscles (thighs) in your body which takes up the largest amount of energy/oxygen etc. Which is why carrying the hoover upstairs just about kills me (because i am lifting AND climbing stairs). Drying your hair with a hair dryer will cause problems (i have always half dried my hair upside down but just finishing it off must be the thing that makes me feel so ill after having a bath and washing hair) also hanging out washing (I guess that if you have a long clothes line  you could drop the line down as low as it will go so you are not reaching up to hang).

Id like to find a medical explanation for this phenomena so if anyone reading this knows anything more, or maybe you have experienced this,  please comment on the forum.
